Come to the exciting conclusion to the Simple Measures season! We are presenting the Corigliano String Quartet in music by composers whose music appears on the big screen, including John Corigliano, Phillip Glass, and even Mozart and Schubert. See movie clips and hear these composers’ concert music, all in an informal, up-close and interactive format. PNB Concertmaster Michael Lim, Seattle Symphony Principal Second violinist Elisa Barston and her sister Amy Barston, and UW faculty member Melia Watras join Simple Measures Founder and Artistic Director Rajan Krishnaswami.

KUOW’s Front Row Center is the station’s innovative new media and community outreach project. Think of it as a “book club for the arts.”  KUOW listeners attend area arts events together then gather informally afterwards to talk about what they experienced.  So far this season FRC participants have been to events at On the Boards, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Seattle Repertory Theatre.

On Saturday, April 17 KUOW’s Dave Beck will lead a Front Row Center discussion following the 2PM Simple Measures performance at Kenyon Hall in West Seattle.

Clarinetist Sean Osborn leads an uplifting program featuring composer Thomas Albert’s piece “13 ways” inspired by the Wallace Stevens Poem “13 Ways of Looking at a Blackbird.” Avian artwork by Tacoma artist Mark Hoppmann will line the walls as musicians play other pieces inspired by the airborne creatures.
