<h3><strong>We all know that women have a certain <em>je ne sais quoi</em> which sets them apart. This season we are exploring and celebrating the substantial artistic contributions made by women, both musically and in other disciplines.</strong></h3>

<h3><strong>Significant Others - February 5-7, 2011</strong></h3>
<p>These compositions by the oft neglected Other Sex are indeed Significant. This program features works by Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann and other significant women composers such as Rebecca Clark and Nadia Boulanger, culminating with Amy Beach’s lush, romantic Piano Quintet.  Seattle&#8217;s own star violist Mara Gearman will lead our Simple Measures musicians.</p>

<p><strong>The Glass Ceiling.</strong> We are presenting New York based ETHEL, a string quartet with an exciting and innovative presentation style.  Featured music includes an arrangement by ETHEL of Philip Glass’ sound track to the movie &#8220;The Hours&#8221; based upon a story about Virginia Woolf, as well as other works by women (and men).  Do not arrive late for we have a special musical surprise to begin the show.</p>

<p><strong>Web Designs.</strong> The Gossamer Collective will spin a multimedia musical web of art, photography, and clothing design creating a living tapestry of sound, color, texture and emotion. As presented by Simple Measures the multimedia work of the five women of the Collective will incorporate various musical works including the monumental Piano Trio by Ravel.</p>
